WJIB-740 2009 Fund Drive
WJIB IS A "LISTENER-SUPPORTED" RADIO STATION, SERVING THE BOSTON, MASS AREA WITH A PLEASANT MIX OF 30's-through-60's ‘ADULT-STANDARDS' AND SOFTER HITS FROM THE 50's through-80's:
HERE'S HOW OUR FUND-RAISING WORKS:
1) - Near the beginning of each year, WJIB requests listeners to send contributions in the amount of their choice to the station (WJIB - 443 Concord Avenue - Cambridge, MA 02138). When the year's goal is reached, ALL fund-raising announcements cease for the remainder of the year.
2) - Because WJIB is virtually a one-man station, WJIB's annual expenses are very minimal, compared to any other station. Contributions go to the expenses of operating the station, without any frivolous spending.
3) - Any time sold on the station goes to the owner, but such is quite minimal, and is usually done on, but not limited to Sunday mornings.
4) - Since WJIB is NOT a non-profit organization, all contributions are NOT tax-deductible.
5) - WJIB would like to have listeners send in as much as what they feel the music on the station is worth to them, however the owner of WJIB feels that it's important to NOT send in any amount more than what a listener would miss, regarding his/her personal finances.
6) - Should funds collected not be enough to operate the station in any given year, WJIB shall refund ALL money collected from listeners to each listener in the amount of each listener's said year contribution. Simultaneously, or near simultaneously, WJIB would have to discontinue airing its music that it has been known for, and do something else.
7) - Should circumstances beyond WJIB's owner's control cause the station to be unable to or difficult to broadcast any longer, then pro-rata refunds to current said year's contributors will be promptly made by WJIB..
8) - FOR THIS ABOVE, THE LISTENER GETS:
a) - WJIB to listen to, "as is" in it's unique present style, for the remainder of the year of the contribution (determined by the date of receipt-by-WJIB of a contributor's check).
b) - the most recent WJIB Newsletter in the mail. (Depending upon timing, (b) (c) and (d) may take from 1 to 52 weeks).
c) - a ‘certificate of appreciation' in the mail for a contribution of $20. or more. (for 1st contribution only)
d) - a WJIB bumper sticker in the mail
(for 1st contribution only).
The owner's INTENT (as historically in the past) is to continue WJIB as is, year after year, as long as possible, but there are no guarantees.
